What happens at a visit

Whatever the topic, a visit goes at your pace. You do the tapping and typing yourself, so it stays with you afterwards.

  1. We start with what you already know and what you want to be able to do by the end.
  2. You practise on your own device, with real things from your own life, with help beside you.
  3. Every visit includes a short scam safety check, whatever the topic: the settings and habits that protect you most.
  4. We leave you a printed cheat sheet with your own steps in plain words, and call you about two weeks later to answer anything that came up.

Who it is for

  • Older adults who want to try AI but are unsure where to start, or worried about getting it wrong.
  • Anyone finding scam calls, texts and emails harder to tell apart.
  • Adult children who want a parent to have patient, in-person help when they cannot be there themselves.

Our rules

  1. You type your own passwords. We never ask for them and never keep them.
  2. No remote access. We only ever help in person, at your table.
  3. We do not touch your money. We never buy anything, do banking or change accounts on your behalf.
  4. Family are welcome to sit in, in person or on a call.
  5. Nothing on your device is copied or recorded.
  6. You will know who is coming. Your confirmation gives the first name of the person visiting and the time. The reminder the day before repeats it.

These rules are written into the short agreement you receive with every booking.

Free scam safety checklist

Keep your parents safe from scams: a kitchen-table checklist

A free, printable checklist to go through with your mother or father. It covers six scams that official Canadian sources warn older adults about, simple family habits such as a code word, and the numbers to call if something goes wrong. Every point comes from the Government of Canada, the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre, the RCMP or the Government of Ontario.

Questions

Do I need to buy anything?

No. The free versions of ChatGPT and Claude are enough for everyday use. We show you which privacy settings to choose. If you ever want a paid plan, that is your decision, and we will not sell you one.

I'm not a "computer person." Is this for me?

Yes. The visit goes at your pace, on the device you already have, and starts from whatever you know now.

Can my son or daughter be there?

Yes. Family are always welcome to sit in, in person or on a call.

Who comes to the visit?

One person, whose first name you will have before the visit. Your booking confirmation gives the name and the time, and the reminder the day before repeats it. If anyone else arrives claiming to be from us, do not let them in.

Do you give financial, legal or medical advice?

No. We teach you to use the tools safely. For money, legal or health questions, please speak to your bank, a lawyer or your doctor.

What if I think I've already been scammed?

Call your bank first, using the number on the back of your card. Then report it to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501 (weekdays, 10 am to 4:45 pm Eastern) and to your local police. If you are worried someone is taking advantage of an older person, the Seniors Safety Line is 1-866-299-1011, at any time. If you are in danger right now, call 911.

How do I pay?

Online by card through Square, once a time has been agreed. Nothing is paid or sold at the door.
